DubCulture was a legendary Dubstep-focused club night/record label that emerged in the mid to late 00s in Galway and Cork.
It played a key role in bringing the emerging Dubstep sound to the west of Ireland, featuring a wide range of local and international DJs across countless events.
The night was known for its deep bass, heavy sound system focus, and a dedication to underground bass music culture. It contributed to the broader spread of Dubstep in Ireland during its formative years before the genre gained mainstream recognition.
Founder Stephen Concannon sadly passed away 10 years ago in March 2015, and this anniversary was the stimulus needed to get some of the key players from the DubCulture era back together for a chest-rattlin' rumble.
Stephen was an accomplished DJ and Producer, ran the Galway clubnight, record label and also ran the Get Low clubnight alongside Section Five.
He produced Dubstep under the name Crysis from 2006 and later produced more ambient electronica and broken beats under the alias Phonetik.
The first Irish Dubstep record label, DubCulture released several records and was responsible for countless heavyweight gigs across Ireland and the UK. The Cork wing of the crew, operated by Rob Flynn, saw great success and also hosted a wide range of international talent.
