TABÚ Queer Club Night is back for its second event after a hugely successful first night.
The air was electric with excitement as the crowd queued up for Galway's first queer club night in way too long.
This next event is set to have the same high energy bangers, talented performers and gorgeous crowd.
This Queer club night is an inclusive and welcoming space that celebrates all members of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially FLINTA, POC, Neurodivergent people and members from other minority groups.
Some important info:
With safety and welfare at the top of the list of importance, the event runs a Safety & Welfare initiative which, for example, includes a Code of Conduct and Welfare Stewards present in the club, who look out for attendees and are there as a first response if anyone has any issues with harassment or abuse. Working closing with the venue, it is our aim to ensure everyone is kept safe on their night out.
Please read the Code of Conduct.
There is a zero-tolerance policy on any kind of harassment, abuse or refusal to adhere to the following:
-No Transphobia
-No homophobia
-No Racism
-No discrimination towards members of the travelling community or Roma
-No ablism
-No means no so respect the 'no'
-Do not touch people without consent, especially intimately
-Respect gender identity (it is good practise to ask pronouns and inform others of yours. Mistakes are okay, refusal is not)
-Anyone suspected of spiking will have the Garda called on them
-If you experience any issues or witness anything, please report it to the Welfare Stewards who are trained in these areas and who are a friendly and supportive team dedicated to helping people. They will work with the security team and will identify anyone who needs to be removed from the premises.
If you are removed for breaching the Code of Conduct, you will not be allowed to attend any future TABÚ events and your details will be passed onto the staff of Cuba who may also wish to exclude you from their premises.
If you would like to appeal this removal, you can email tabuqueerclubnight@gmail.com and it will be reviewed.
Accessibility
Unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible and has a flight of stairs leading up to it.
But major efforts are being made to ensure future events can be more accessible.
There are chairs in the venue if anyone needs to sit down.
If you have any accessibility queries, please do get in touch at
tabuqueerclubnight@gmail.com
This event is for the Queer community, at the moment it is open to allies but please only come if you genuinely want to attend the event to celebrate Queerness. Please don't come if you are just there 'for the music' or just want a 'fun night out' and don't really care that it's a Queer night.
Early Entrance Tickets (11:00-11:30pm)
There can be a bad habit of attendees arriving later and later to a club night (sometimes just the last hour or half an hour), the night is a lot more enjoyable for everyone if everyone comes on time and gets to enjoy the whole night together. So to aid this, there are a select number of cheaper tickets available for those who arrives at the start.
This worked very well at the last club night and the event was nearly full from the beginning of the event.
If you buy a cheaper, earlier entrance ticket, you have to arrive in the designated time slot though. Please do not buy one if you don't know if you can arrive before 11:30pm
.....
It is safe to say the buzz and demand for this next event have been very high, so it is set to be another electric night!
TABÚ is funded by Galway City Council and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, building on Galway’s thriving night-time economy by ensuring everyone feels welcome to participate.
